TEACH ME LORD…
How do YOU say I should live?
Ever since we got home, I feel like the Bible is newly alive for me. Words that I have read before are now speaking directly into my heart. It’s like God has stripped away the blinders so I can see how all these truths pertain to me. Oh for the ability to be obedient…
I recognize that although our situation is difficult and we do not have a lot of answers as of yet to how we are going to work our way through, God is calling me to know him better in the midst of our mess. I have a stronger sense of my need for a deeper more intimate relationship with Him.
It seems strange to me that at a time where it appears my life is crumbling around me, He would offer me such a sense of peace when I lean in to him. I could easily lose hours with my Bibles and commentaries opened, pen in hand … soaking up everything He has for me.
Then amidst the sweet fellowship, I hear the taunts of the enemy, “you’re hiding… you’re not fixing or accomplishing anything”. He is so subtle in his attempts to draw us away from the Father. He hates it when he sees troubles drawing us towards God rather than away, he wants us to tremble and fear the unknown.
This is exactly the time, I recognize how much I need to draw even closer to God. To hear His voice and His purpose for me moving forward. To quit stealing from tomorrows worries and focus on what is before me today. I am so thankful that God will give me the strength I need for tomorrow, If I trust in him with my today….
Journal Entry # 13
“Run from temptation that capture young people. Always do the right thing. Be faithful, loving and easy to get along with. Worship with people whose hearts are pure. / Stay away from stupid and senseless arguments, these only lead to trouble,/ and Gods servants must not be trouble makers. They must be kind to everyone and they must be good teachers and very patient. / Be humble when you correct people who oppose you. Maybe God will lead them to turn to him and learn the truth. / They have been trapped by the devil, and he makes them obey him, but God may help them escape.” 2 Timothy 2: 22-26 CEV
Lord God,
Thank you for your Word, thank you that every single word in it is useful for us; teaching us and helping us, correcting us and showing us how to live for you. Continue Lord, to train me as your servant to do good in your sight and by this to draw others to you. Lord Jesus, there are so many temptations in this world that try to steal our hearts and take us off your path for us, protect me Lord from these snares that try to entrap me.
I want to do the right thing in your eyes Lord, help me I pray to stay true to that. Help me to be faithful & loving with those I meet, work with and do life with. Help me, to get along with everyone as best as possible, that I would not give anyone cause to judge you wrongly because of me.
Thank you lord for my Church family, thank you that I can worship freely, I recognize that is a gift that not all believers are free to do. I pray that the worship I offer from my lips will always come from my heart to you, not out of emotion or show.
Lord God, it is so easy to get sucked into foolish arguments, even arguments about you. Give me wisdom I pray to avoid being pulled into them. teach me to be a peacemaker, leading people towards you rather than say something foolish that might cause trouble for someone and and lead them astray.
Instead help me to be kind and patient with those who don’t understand. Grant me the ability to teach by your Spirit, with gentle leading and love. Lord, it is often difficult to correct people and hold them accountable in our culture of “no-accountability… if it feels good do it”. Fill me with humility & peace.
It breaks my heart Lord, that so many people that I know and Love oppose you and your truth. Help me to Love them well and not be judgmental towards them.. Draw them to you Father and set them free from the bondage and blindness they are in.
So many of your children have boughten into the lies of this world, spewed out by the father of lies, the devil himself. He wants to keep as many people away from you as possible. But you Lord, are far superior in your power and you can soften the very hearts that he has hardened.
I pray for those within my sphere of influence, help them escape the enemies grasp and lead them into the light of salvation and freedom. Thank you Father, for your loving kindness and goodness to those who love you and call you Lord.
Thank you that your purpose and plan for my life is far greater to my own. Forgive me Lord for the many ways I fail you and allow sin to entangle me. Free me Father… Redeem me… and Use me, for your glory. In Jesus name ❤️ Amen
My Final Thoughts & Encouragement…
I don’t know what mountain or meadow you are facing today. Maybe today is bright and shining and all seems right in the world. Or, maybe today is filled with unattainable answers and darkness. But what I do know is that, in the mountain or the meadow God is there.
It may seem counter intuitive to stop what you are doing, to find a quiet place and just sit with God… DO IT ANYWAY! It may seem impossible to focus your mind and to open His Word…DO IT ANYWAY! It may seem like a waste of time to put on some worship music, and allow His presence to wash over you… DO IT ANYWAY!
The Heavenly Father wants to be Lord over your life… over both your mountains & darkness, as well as your meadows & sunshine. He wants you to lean in to Him for both the good and the difficult, He wants you to learn and to grow. This is what relationship is, and this is what He desires from His Children.
So wherever you are today, I encourage you to spend time with the Father, trust in His plans for you, surrender your life to His purpose and He will guide you through according to His will. This may look different than what you planned, but He is after all the Creator of creation; if He can produce diamonds out of dust, just imagine what He can do with your life…
