Praying Gods Word in all areas of life… The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
what do we do when Good is evil & evil is good?
As I sit and write this blog entry today, my heart is breaking for the mayhem that is becoming our world. First Covid 19 brings fear and insecurity across the globe as nobody understands what’s truly happening or how to control it, coupled with the constant updates and news reports with differing thoughts and narratives on the subject. This has left many people confused and stressed out and living in fear.
Next comes reports of police shootings, the # Black Lives Matter slogan takes over everything news & social media… it appears to take on a life of its own. We empathize and want to be part of a movement that corrects injustice… this is a good thing. But what happens when this apparent good thing, has a very ugly side?
We watch helplessly as cities across North America are victimized by bullies claiming they are protesting against racial injustice. We see the damage that is left in their wake and we see that nobody is stopping them, this movement is gaining more and more momentum every day. The riots continue and the damage piles high.
Then just when we think things can’t get any worse, we hear of police officers sitting in their patrol car outside of a hospital getting shot in the face at point blank range, while the protesters block the emergency room doors and yell “let them die”. How far will our world sink, what is it coming too? Oh how this makes me grieve for the officers, their families and the inhumanity of the protestors.
When I first wrote the journal entry below, I was trying to learn why God loved us so much when we constantly fail him. In that process, I chose to read up on what he hates… It’s hard to even comprehend a God who IS Love to be able to hate things, but the Bible is very clear on this… there are things that He hates, that He finds detestable. What we see happening in our world today are those very things.
Every time we turn on the news, we see haughty eyes and lying tongues, this may or may not be coming from the reporters, as they simply report what they are dictated. But, how about those behind the scenes? Those deciding what narrative they want represented by their news or political organization. You don’t have to look very hard, to see that the “news” has diverted to popular opinion rather than reporting the actual truth. God detests this!
How about hands that shed innocent blood, and a heart that devices wicked schemes, and feet that are quick to rush into evil. Those people that made a pre thought-out decision to shoot two police officers (simply because they were police), and those blocking their only hope for help while yelling to “let them die”… God hates this!
We see the daily stories of injustice of #Black Lives Matter… and they do… immeasurably and immensely, I believe God is deeply grieved by the racial injustice in the hearts of man and what has taken place for centuries with our Black brothers & sisters, as well as Indigenous people and many Immigrants to our Nations. Yet, I also see that there are those pulling strings, that I believe, are using the outrage we should all feel for a totally different agenda. False witnesses that are pouring out lies and protesters that are stirring up conflict in the community. God detests this!
We are falling into a place in our world where people are living in fear. We are told to cover our faces and social distance from others. We watch in horror as protestors destroy monuments and cities and burn everything around them. Where people are being violently attacked for no reason, other than being “the privileged descendants” of those in history that committed or allowed horrible injustices to happen.
Here’s the deal… every generation does things wrong. Hopefully we learn from our mistakes and move forward… this is growth. History shows that growth is oftentimes too slow for our liking, but it eventually does happen. This is why history cannot be erased, human beings will forget and these things will happen again. Look at the communist countries out there, they only allow ONE narrative to be heard (theirs), thereby erasing history and any chance of forward growth… is this what we want for our Countries?
My father fought in WW11, I hate what Hitler did to the Jews, but even more I would hate that these things were forgotten, only to be repeated again in the future. There has been a movement for all long time to try to deny this part of history, and have it removed… this would be an injustice to every Jew that suffered or perished and for every survivor, as well as every soldier that witnessed and had to live with the memories of the atrocities they saw. .
The Bible clearly tells us that there comes a time “that evil will be seen as good, and good as evil”. I believe we are seeing this happen before our very eyes. So many places in Gods Word we are told to beware of the evil in the world, I encourage you to click on the links of each verse to re-read these yourself. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 – 2 Timothy 4:3 – 2 Peter 2:1 – Matthew 24:12 – 1 Timothy 4:1.
There will come a time when we will have to decide who do we align ourselves with; those who are of the world, promoting evil / or those who are of the Lord, living for Truth and Eternity. In the end there are only two sides… those for and those against. I urge you dear Brothers & Sisters… take the side of Truth. For This is what God Loves!
Journal Entry: #34
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes’ lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devices wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. Proverbs 6: 16-19 NIV
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Word. Your Word Lord, shows us what You Love…US, because Love is Your very character. Yet, it also shows us what You Hate…and that is everything that undermines Love.
Teach me Lord to recognize my own haughty eyes: my pride and selfishness, judgment and condemnation of others. Forgive me Lord for undermining Love in these ways. Open my eyes to see and my heart to turn away, before walking into the enemy’s trap.
Lord God, help me to put on your Armour every day, to protect me from committing these things that You detest, and give me the strength to stand firm in the Truth. Help me to buckle the belt of truth around my waist, so that no lies will come out of my mouth.
That belt of truth will hold the breastplate of righteousness in place, helping me to stay true to You and to Love others as well. Fit my feet with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, with this I will be able to take a stand for Truth and not run towards evil.
Help me Lord to pick up the shield of faith with protects me from the enemies lies that could potentially lead me to stir up conflict. Cover my head with the Helmut of Salvation and place the sword of the Spirit in my hand, so that the Word of God will always lead me in the right way.
Thank you Lord, that You have given us ALL we need to follow You and stay true to You, even when things that are not from you come against us. By Your Spirit, help me to be strong in my areas of weakness, and thank you for the immeasurable gift of grace, that forgives me when I fail… Praise you Jesus.

My Final Thoughts & Encouragement:
So what do we do as we watch our world decay before our very eyes? As I prayed these words above in a very dark personal time 2 years ago, I recognize that they are even more important for each of us in the very dark public time we find ourselves living in. We, as believers and followers of Christ have access to the Full Armour of God. Read & apply Ephesians 6 to yourself daily. We are in a battle and need to be prepared to withstand the onslaught.
I also encourage believers everywhere to join together in prayer. “Where two or three are gathered, there I am with them” Matthew 18:20 NIV. We need to recognize the power Christ has given us in prayer through the work of His Holy Spirit, we CAN actually make a difference in the here and now of the world we live in.
Finally, we need to recognize that although God hates/ detests the actions listed above. He still fully loves the people committing them. They too where created in His image. We have to be careful to see them through Gods eyes, and pray that they would see truth through the lies that they are being fed. The human heart is easily led astray, the prince of this world has been hard at work…but he knows his time is coming to an end.
As we’ve seen in the past few months alone, I personally believe things will get much worse before they get better. More than ever, we… His Children, need to be the “light” in a very dark world. We need to be the conveyers of Love, we need to forgive and we need to pray that our lives will draw others to Jesus himself and the true Freedom He offers. He has created us for such a time as this…Shine Your light in us Lord!!
