YOU KNEW ME LORD?

Was I really created for a purpose?

Welcome to Throwback Thursday, please don’t run away just because this post is a repeat.  As I re-read the words the Lord gave me and the lessons He taught me, I once again sensed His incredible purpose and power in His plans for each of us… may these words be an encouragement in your journey as well ❤️

An amazing thing happens when one gives time for God to become your number one focus… He actually responds.  I’ve come to realize that He is always with us, we just lose sight of Him when we get sidetracked with all of our “stuff”.

I’ve felt myself swing from calm to storm and back again, only to realize that these things were actually raging around me all the time, sometimes I just couldn’t see clearly.   The solution was to learn to re-focus and to see things from His perspective.

I can tell you, I’m not great at doing this yet, but I am getting better, and with practice I believe I will continue to improve.  I’m learning to trust those inner promptings;  when a particular word jumps off the page, or a thought that niggles over and over in my mind.  I’m learning to discern and hear the Lord…what He might be trying to teach me?

As I opened Gods word today, I was reading a passage from the prophet Jeremiah.“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”, Jeremiah 1:5-6.  Well this certainly got my attention…

If God knew Jeremiah before he was even formed in the womb and had a plan & purpose for him to fulfill, what did that mean for us?  Did He know ALL of His children in this way?  Did WE ALL have a God given purpose to fulfill in this life?

I put down my Bible and prayed about what I was reading… then I started searching the scriptures to see what else spoke of this.  You will never believe what I discovered, there are over 100 Bible Verses about God knowing us before we were born... this was getting exciting.  (I would encourage you to take the time to read through these verses and discover for yourself what Gods word teaches us about this).

What does this all mean for me?  After reading through the verses, I came to the conclusion that there were four important facts for me to consider;

I can honestly say that I never looked at myself as a masterpiece of any kind.  A mess yes… a masterpiece… not even close.  So what does Paul mean when he referred to us as a masterpiece in Ephesians 2:10?  Time to do a little homework…

What I discovered that the word ‘masterpiece’, that Paul was using came from the Greek word ‘Poiema.. Which means “made by God”.  This word in English translates to Poem.  In Christ our life should be a poetic statement of God’s Goodness.

We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One.  Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!  Ephesians 2:10 TPT

Indeed, you and I were created with a Godly purpose that we are destined to fulfill.  God is that detailed, that He purposed in each and every one of us assignments to be done to bring Him Glory.  What an incredibly humbling discovery, and now that I’ve discovered it, what an incredibly humbling responsibility…

Journal Entry #8

My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you.  Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all Gods people.  Ephesians 1:18 CEV

You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life and all its bad habits. / Let the Spirit change your way of thinking / and make you into a new person.  You were created to be like God, so you must please Him and be truly Holy.  Ephesians 4:22-24 CEV

Lord Jesus,

Thank you for your Word that speaks to me when I seek your face.  Thank you for teaching me Your ways through it.  thank you for teaching me that You CHOSE me, and Your Spirit prepared my heart for understanding… Praise you Jesus that I am wonderfully made… not a mistake or an accident… made with a plan and a purpose that was designed just for me.

Forgive me Jesus, that I bought into the lies of the enemy and didn’t see myself in Your Truth and light.  Forgive me for seeing myself as unworthy and inconsequential in the bigger scheme of life.

I pray that Your light would flood through my heart in such a way that ALL would see You IN me, and that I would receive Your glorious blessings as You would see fit Father.

Lord, I thank you for reminding me again that You created me to be like You. What amazing plans you have for your children if WE were created by You to be LIKE You.  Thank you for teaching me that my self-worth comes from YOU not from the world or my past.

I pray Father that your Spirit would change my ways of thinking, re-create new thought patterns within me to see myself from Your perfect vision than from my limited view… make me into the person You created me to be Lord.. Thank you

Help me Lord, to give up any foolish desires and bad habits that remain tied to my old life and my old self-worth.  Help me to see myself as your daughter… perfectly made for your purpose and Glory…Have your way in me Jesus, Your WILL be done on earth as it is in heaven.

In Jesus name ❤️ Amen

My Final Thoughts & Encouragement…

What lens are your viewing yourself through?  The ones that you have been told over the years.  The ones that focus on your failures & mistakes rather than your potential?  These are the lies from the pit of hell … from the enemy himself.

I too, have spent many years believing these lies that I could not or would not amount to very much.  I compared myself to others; who were thinner, heavier, better looking, smarter, more talented … the list goes on and on, male & female, we all have those lists.  The enemy has taught us to believe that we are NOT enough, but the Word of God totally blows this lie out of the water.  How freeing is that?

How can we possibly not be good enough when we were created by God, He knew us and has a purpose specifically for each of us… think of the VALUE He places on each and every one of us.  When we truly accept this about ourselves, it changes everything.

Quit striving to DO and BE.  Allow God to produce His good works within you.   All we need to do is seek Him, offer ourselves up as living sacrifices to fulfil His will and Trust that He will complete the good work He started in us.

Free yourself today from the bondage and tyranny of never being enough, soak in the truths of why you were born and give yourself to Him wholly… He has quite a journey in store for each of us… Hallelujah!!
