Praying Gods Word in all areas of life… The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
With so many new followers I thought it might be good to go back to the beginning and repost some of my earliest posts… this way you can see where the journey began. As I re-read this post myself, I am amazed at how well it speaks into my life right now.
We have spent the last year in ‘Gods waiting room’, seeking His direction. Fast forward to July 2020 and we find our-selves in Northern AB in a new job, still hanging onto our faith the God is IN this…maybe, just maybe we too will become earthly examples of faith, pointing others towards the Father…
Return with me to a year ago, Jan 1 2019, when this journey truly began…
Here we are in Mexico, beginning a brand new year. Last night we ate our fill of incredible food and prayed together about what the new year would bring for us. We are very aware that our life is in shambles… by all rights and reason, we should not even be on this trip, yet here we are.
As I settle into my lounge chair looking out over the vast blue waters of the Carribean ocean, I suddenly sense the vastness of God. The verses from Psalm 103: 11-12 float through my mind…How many times had I heard those words…
“For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west”.
Yet, here as I take in the vastness of both the sea and the heavens, these verses drop the 18” from my head to my heart… and they suddenly take on life, and I look at them through the lens of my life. As I let these words sink deeply into my heart I am reminded once again of all the things the Lord has done for me and brought me through in the past.
Bible verses fly through my brain taking on entirely new perspectives. Yet, I am challenged… If I know all these things…. If I believe all these things… why is my life not reflecting it? Is it my faith that’s the problem…What exactly is Faith?
Lord would you show me, would you teach me today what you would have me learn about faith, about my faith or on the opposite side of the spectrum, my lack of faith….
“Faith Shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. ”
Hebrews 11:1 NLT
Thank you for the great examples of Faith in Your Word ( Hebrews 11), people from days past that earned a good reputation and are an example to me on how to live by faith.
Your Word tells me that by faith we understand the things that cannot be seen, Help me Lord to have that kind of faith. By faith Abel brought an acceptable offering to you, teach me Father, how to honor you with what I can offer.
By faith Enoch was taken into your presence because he pleased you, Help me Jesus to have the type of faith that pleases you. Your Word says that “anyone who wants to come to you, must believe that God exists, and that you reward those who sincerely seek you” Hebrews 11:6 .
Give me a deep desire to always seek you more Father. By faith Noah built, He obeyed you when you warned him about things that didn’t seem possible to his human mind, and by his faith he received righteousness. Create in me Lord God, a faith that obeys and preservers when things don’t make sense and I can’t understand.
By faith Abraham obeyed when you called him to leave his home and go to another land, and by faith he continued to live in this land like a foreigner. It was by faith that Sarah received the blessing of a child in old age… she believed you would keep your promises.
Lord God, help me to have faith to go where you ask me to go and to trust in your timing rather than my own. Teach me Father to fix my eyes on Eternity rather than the world I live in now. Thank you Lord, that this world and all its difficulties, pain and struggles is only temporary.
Increase my faith, I pray Father, so that I can live in this world but not be of this world. Remind me Lord Jesus of these great examples of faith that you have recorded in your Word, so that we might be encouraged.
Thank you Father, that you desire each of us to come to you, thank you for calling me and pursuing me. Use me I pray for your purpose and your glory and continue to increase my faith so I might serve you better.
In Jesus name❤️ Amen
Are you struggling to understand Faith? Or looking for ways to increase yours? I would suggest searching Scripture. Did you know that there are 486 verses in the New Testament alone that utilize words for faith, believe, doubt and unbelief
My prayer is that you would prayerfully ask God to reveal himself to you in His Word… “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief” Mark 9:24 NIV
